The Cyprus Academy of Art (CAA) is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Part-Time
Graphic Designer to join our academic team and teach students studying at undergraduate
degree level.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in contemporary graphic design

practice, together with excellent technical knowledge of industry-standard creative

software. We are looking for a practising designer who can combine professional experience

with the ability to inspire, guide and develop the next generation of creative practitioners.

Part-time

Teaching hours will be arranged according to the Academy’s timetable and programme

requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

•  Teach Graphic Design to undergraduate degree students through practical workshops, demonstrations, tutorials and project-based learning.
• Teach students the effective and creative use of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, with strong working knowledge of key applications including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
• Have knowledge and practical experience of other current and emerging graphic design software, digital platforms and creative technologies relevant to contemporary professional practice.
• Introduce students to contemporary approaches in areas such as typography, visual communication, branding and identity, editorial design, digital design, image-making and layout.
• Help students develop both their technical software skills and their creative/design thinking.
• Support students in developing ideas from initial research and experimentation through to professionally resolved outcomes.
• Provide constructive individual and group feedback on student work.
• Contribute to assessment, marking and academic feedback where required.
• Encourage experimentation, innovation and awareness of current developments within graphic design and the wider creative industries.

Essential Requirements

Applicants should have:

• A relevant degree or professional qualification in Graphic Design, Visual Communication or a closely related discipline.
• Strong professional knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, with the ability to teach these applications confidently.
• Knowledge of modern and emerging graphic design software and digital creative tools.
• A strong understanding of contemporary graphic design practice and visual communication.
• Good communication and presentation skills.
• The ability to work effectively with students from different backgrounds and levels of experience.
